Tonos Triad

They’re half joking when they call the music “Jazzpop/Eurofolk,” but
that’s about as close as you’ll get to a manageable description. Otherwise,
you’d end up with something like “acoustic instrumental Latino-
Celtic minimalist Gypsy funk-jazz,” which is an unwieldy tag for such
a sleek sound

From the Beginning

The thing about using a suitcase for your bass drum
is that you can use it to carry your stuff when you are
done. The logic seams flawless when applied to Indianapolis’
stripped down acoustic trio that employs nylon
guitar, upright bass, melodica, and mandolin in addition
to the infamous suitcase drum kit to produce Indianapolis’
premiere Jazzpop/Eurofolk experience.

Formed in the fall of 2006, Tonos Triad strives to be
a band that can incoportate intself into the visual and
performing arts culture in Indianapolis and elsehwere.
Though taking inspiration from such American innovators
as John Zorn, Tom Waits, and Tin Hat Trio, Tonos
Triad condenses its sound into easy to listen pop formats.

“If you don’t like one of our songs, just wait a few minutes
and we’ll play another.”

The Triad has performed in venues large and small, and feels at home
amplified on the large stages of the Broad Ripple Art Fair or the quiet
comfort of an all acoustic set in a coffee shop.
